3 reasons why you should outsource content (and how to choose a good writer)
Why outsource content if you’re the expert?
Here are five reasons why outsourcing content often makes sense:
It saves time
I often hear of people struggling for hours to write blogs or even simple social media content. Surely your time could be better used in building your business?
It is better written
A good content writer knows how to write to encourage the consumption of content on the screen. In addition, they will understand that different types of people consume content in different ways. They will know how to write to appeal to all these types of readers.
Your content will focus on the reader’s point of view
In-house writers are often experts in certain areas. However, they often see things from their own point of view, not the reader’s. This means their content may miss the mark.
You gain valuable feedback
When I write case studies, the interviewees often share feedback and information with me that they are nervous to share with their normal contact.
The writer may be able to get you extra exposure
Some writers have extensive networks that you wouldn’t normally have access to where they can share your content.
How do you choose a good content writer?
Firstly, bear in mind that many PR agencies are good at writing press releases but are not exerts in writing content for magazines or websites. (I have often had PR agencies outsourcing work to me!)
- Here are a set of questions to ask anyone that you are considering using for content creation:
- Who will write your content (is it a junior)?
- What do they know about your industry?
- How do they write for different learning styles?
- What is their track record?
- How can they help spread your content?
Remember, you may be the expert about your company or subject. But sometimes it is better to outsource to a copy writing expert.
